Privacy Policy

TL;DR I don’t use analytics services like Google Analytics to track you and don’t store any other data than the comments you leave. The website does have links to external websites for which I don’t have control over how tracking happens there. The website is hosted by Greengeeks, which has some statistics for ip access. The website uses gravatar and paypal integrations that load external content. You will also find youtube video embeddings. I try to use as little external dependencies as possible. If you want to keep your digital footprint as small as possible I recommend the browser addon Privacy Badger.

What personal data is collected?

I removed Google Analytics and Google Fonts. The website does not collect any data by itself other than when you leave comments. However, there are embedded videos and other media on the website, so other websites might collect data. The webserver itself is configured by GreenGeeks and might track information like you IP-address to avoid DDoS attacks. For further information take a look at the paragraph “Embedded content from other websites”

Why the data is collected

Green Geeks servers do collect rudimentary data to make sure the services are running as expected and to fight DDoS attacks. For more information see Green Geeks Privacy Policy.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site the server collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it (Gravatar Service Privacy Policy). After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who I share your data with

I try to share as little as possible with 3rd Party Services. However, I do use AnitSpamBee for filtering out spam comments.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. The comments you leave are also visible to others once they are approved.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service (AnitSpamBee).

How I protect your data

The only data of yours I store is comments. They are handled through wordpress own comment feature. Everything is password protected, but I can’t guarantee that there are no flaws in wordpress.
